Hi,
I have tried to install both disqus and Livefyre on my Infinity themed website. They both installed successfully, but neither will show in the comment sections of my blog posts. I have tried disabling all other plugins to see if there was a conflict but they still did not work. If there a conflict with Infinity which may be causing the issue? Any ideas?
Thanks,
MikeMay 15, 2012 at 9:50 am #1183Hi Mike,
Sorry for the late reply.. I’ll investigate and report back later today and see what my cause this!
May 15, 2012 at 3:13 pm #1184Thats ok, I understand that you are busy. I have fiddled around with things but have so far not had any luck.
Thanks for your help.
MikeMay 18, 2012 at 12:52 pm #1188Did you manage to find anything?
May 18, 2012 at 1:28 pm #1189I spent more then an hour trying out various things, and reading the support topics for both Disqus and LiveFyre but I could not figure out why it’s not working. Both plugins lack documentation and I even tried replacing the comments template with the default TwentyTen but to no avail.
If we manage to figure out how exactly Disqus hooks into the comments template and replaces it, then I can hopefully fix it.
May 18, 2012 at 1:39 pm #1190Ok, thanks for trying. Hope you can get it to work eventually, but I appreciate it’s not a priority.
Thanks again!
MikeJune 26, 2012 at 8:47 am #1316Hi again,
Just wondering if anybody has had any success with this? I’m pulling my hair out with it
Cheers
MikeSeptember 8, 2012 at 3:05 pm #1888Sorry guys. Got to bring this up again. I have just been trying to install livefyre again with no luck. I would really like it if anyone else could tell me if they have managed to do this?
Thanks
MikeSeptember 8, 2012 at 3:15 pm #1889Does it work on a vanilla install with Twenty Eleven activated?
September 9, 2012 at 1:11 pm #1891It’s unfortunate that we can’t pinpoint this problem. To my knowledge there is nothing we’re doing differently regarding the comments template compared to others. I think this is the only plugin that I know off which does not seem to play nice with Infinity. I will dive in again and see if I can find out where it’s going wrong. Sorry for the trouble Mike!
October 18, 2012 at 9:17 am #2186Hi again.
Any update? I have now tried numerous commenting plugins and none of them seem to be able to touch the wordpress comments template!?! Livefyre, disqus, social by mailchimp, jetpack comments, none seem to work. Would love it if this could be resolved.
Cheers
MikeOctober 30, 2012 at 5:48 pm #2270Anything at all?!?
Sorry to pester, I could just really do with having more control over the comments. I might have to consider another theme if I can’t sort it but don’t really want to have to do that because I love what you guys are doing here
I have tried some other comment plugins aswell but none seem to work?
October 30, 2012 at 6:49 pm #2271Hi Mike,
I understand it’s frustrating, I promise you to take a look at it tonight and get back to you tomorrow. I want to find out why this happens!
November 2, 2012 at 11:18 am #2278Ok Mike I spent some more time trying to dig in to Disqus.. but seriously that plugin is just a pain in the ass. I can’t find any documentation on which hooks are used. The support forums are dead, and I tried looking at their code and that’s equally a mess. It’s also impossible to test Disqus locally. If you can find anyone from their support team to help me out that would be great. I tried googling but came up with nothing
November 5, 2012 at 12:24 pm #2298I am using Facebook plugin for commenting, and aside from sending me an error that subscribe is disabled, it is working for my comments.
WP-Ajaxify-Comments seriously slowed down my site and conflicted with other plugins so I disabled it. If you have it active, it might be your issue with the others.
Hope that helped,
Nofia
PS. You are all personally invited to check out blogmylunch.com. It’s using Balance theme and it is hosted on WPEngine.November 5, 2012 at 1:06 pm #2299I am also trying LoginRadius social commenting system
December 20, 2012 at 6:20 pm #2661Disqus works with Infinity bleeding edge now. Its probable that the issue was affecting many comment replacement plugins. Hopefully all is now resolved.
December 20, 2012 at 6:24 pm #2662Hope this is still relevant for you @mikefathers
