I like having a blog page at example.com/blog where I can list more posts than on my front page, coupled with a blog-specific sidebar. Some themes have allowed me to easily do this by having a “blog” template that I can apply to a page. Is there a way to do this with Infinity?

On a related note, how come there are no templates whatsoever for pages in Infinity? Are you taking a different approach, or are templates just not a priority yet?

There will be some page templates added in the next release.. The ones we have now are:

    - Archive Template (listing posts from across the site + search form)
    - Sidebar Left (Switch the sidebar)
    - Full Width (full width.. duh)

The waited a bit with adding them, because adding a lot of those clutter up the theme (and it’s already quite busy in the Infinity theme folder :D ). But some of them are pretty much standard in any theme these days, so we add those in if there’s a need for it..

Hopefully in WordPress 3.3 page templates can “live” outside the root theme folder (http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/11216) so we can start offering all kinds of page templates which can easily be drag and dropped into your child theme folder :-)

Awesome. Make note of Nacin’s comment though:
“Definitely not 3.3 material, but could go into 3.4.”
