Ok, I’ve been out of it for a while and haven’t updated my site for a few weeks. I have checked recently and found that there is an update for infinity on wordpress (version 1.1). I have also seen that you have beta 3 of the theme out.
I am currently running beta 2 of infinity with the showcase child theme ( so that I could have the slider etc). I have noticed that the showcase theme is no longer supported and you are working from the skeleton theme.
My question is this. What is the best way to update to the latest version of infinity (and get rid of showcase child theme for skeleton) without breaking my current setup? I need to keep my current features such as the front page slider and buddypress support etc.Sorry if this has been covered before.
Cheers
MikeJune 26, 2012 at 2:03 pm #1317There are a lot of themes name Infinity out there. It looks like someone put one in the repo with the slug “infinity” which matches our slug so the update system is confusing the two.
June 27, 2012 at 10:16 am #1319Ok, that covers the version 1.1 issue, but what about the rest of the question? Any ideas?
June 27, 2012 at 2:59 pm #1320Hi Mike,
Could you send me the current version of your showcase theme so I can update it for you? If you could zip it up for me and post it here (or email it to bowe@presscrew.com) that would be great!
June 28, 2012 at 8:37 am #1325Here it is. Could you also let me know what the main changes will be to the theme? New features etc?
Sorry, I’ve just been out of touch for a while.
Thanks for your help. Mike.

June 28, 2012 at 11:46 am #1328No I don’t remember making any changes to the templates. The only changes I have made to buddypress have just been cosmetic ones through custom CSS in the showcase style.css file.
June 28, 2012 at 1:00 pm #1329Ok great.. I’ve updated your theme to be compatible with Infinity Beta v3.

Thanks for your time and help with this. I have just got round to updating as you have described above but have noticed that you now have RC1 of infinity out. Will this method still work? Is the showcase theme future proof now or will I always have to have it manually updated? Is it best for me to swap to skeleton theme or will I lose all of the features or showcase theme such as slider etc?
Thanks
MikeJuly 4, 2012 at 2:24 pm #1385The showcase theme I’ve send you still works with the new release candidate. Because we’ve made some big changes from Beta 2 to Beta 3 a one time upgrade was needed. You can safely download RC1 and replace it for Beta 3.
Most of the features present in the showcase theme will be available in the future as “extensions” which can be drag-and-dropped into ANY Infinity theme. But this is a few months away probably. So I advise you to keep working with what you have now, and once the functionality that you need is available (slider etc) start working on a redesign/new theme.
Hope this makes sense
July 5, 2012 at 9:52 am #1390The drag and drop extensions sound amazing. Can’t wait for that release
I have updated with RC1 and the showcase theme you updated for me. Thanks for all your had work on this for me. I am currently in the process of tweaking the CSS as you said would be needed. Whilst doing this I have noticed some missing CSS in the style.css file. All of the buttons and Icons appear to have dissappeared? The following section is completely missing:// Extras
+ Shortcodes
+ Buttons
+ NotificationsIs there a reason for this? Has it moved?
Thanks.
Mike.July 5, 2012 at 10:48 am #1391No problem! Thanks for trying Infinity and giving your feedback. Infinity needs people who are willing to grow with the project and that means some extra work keeping everything up to date. Once we hit our first stable release this will be largely a thing of the past
The buttons are now part of the Core CSS and loaded by Infinity automatically. You can find them in
infinity/assets/css/buttons.css
I don’t think I should have removed the shortcodes CSS, so maybe you should put that back. Unless you are not using the shortcodes that is
